Does hair toner need to be applied within 24 hours after getting bleach highlights?

The person at Sally's told me I have to use toner within 24 hours of getting the highlights. Others have said this is not true.Does hair toner need to be applied within 24 hours after getting bleach highlights?
not true. You can tone at anytime...but just remember to leave it on for the specific amount of time it states otherwise your hair can turn grey, green, etc.Does hair toner need to be applied within 24 hours after getting bleach highlights?
nope! my friends and i bleached a streak in our hair in december


and one of them just used toner on it last month and it looks
