I want to do a body wave perm on my hair, and colour it with a cool auburn brown base colour, highlight it with a cool strawberry blonde and lowlight it with a neutral medium brown. I have natural really really dark brown hair and i am indian. I have only treated my hair with henna twice in the past, the latest being about 4 months ago, and bleached a few strands here and there about a year and a half ago. Can I safely do all of this to my hair and if so how long do i have to wait in between treatments? My hair is really thick, about chest length, and i have a lot of it.
Thanks =)I want to do a body wave, colour, highlight and lowlight my hair...how?
Henna has what are called metallic dyes in it and if you perm over that you will no longer have really thick chest length hair! You can get away with highlighting and lowlighting it, but be warned that your results could be a bit erratic, especially with 4 months of new growth from the last henna treatment. That means you probably have about 2 inches of virgin hair that will take the color differently than the hair that has the henna in it. And even if you can't see the henna'd strands really well anymore, they are still chemically treated. Everyone's hair is different, but you are not likely to get real even color results even if you had no new growth because metallic dyes do not get along well with regular hair color. Definitely do not perm it until all of the original henna has grown off and been cut off. And be very sure you tell your stylist that your hair has been henna'd before they color your hair, so they know what to use on it. And i wouldn't use henna again unless that is the only product you want to EVER use in your hair. Good luck, hope this helps!
