Will this harm my hair, or affect the highlights?

I'm going to get my hair done on Saturday, I plan on getting it cut and highlights.


But I was wondering, if I dyed it black ( box dye ) on like Wednesday or Thursday, will it harm or change the affects of my highlights on Saturday?Will this harm my hair, or affect the highlights?
I did the same thing;

It shouldn't interfere with your highlights as long as you use aluminum foil and take all the pieces that have highlights in them and wrap them up in the aluminum foil and clip them with something so there not in your way. Then you just dye the rest your desired color. Hope this helped! =)
