In my head I think black lowlights would good in my hair and I have tested it with temporary dye and it looks pretty good.I really want to change the color of my hair. All I have to say about black is is is the worst hair color to get out of any ones hair. The damage is unbelievable once dyed black and not liking the results, and having to remove it. Just make sure this is what you want. The last time I had to remove black from someones head it took 5 hours.....and they paid me a lot of money to do this, safely.
You also have to remember that there is upkeep with these colors, every month.
Do your self a favor and try on wigs to give yourself an idea of what YOU really like.
well me personally would not go for eather i would be proud and not change a thing. But since you want to than i wouldn't do eather i would do blond lowlights
brown with black lowlights is good. if u tested it and liked it...then do it. i think all black with gold highlights is tooooo much.
You're better off with black lowlights, because if you get amber/gold with BLACK, it'll look HORRIBLE. Plus, it'll be a hassle because it'll look even worse when it starts to grow out
black hair with auburn/gold highlights would look really cool, i think. it's an edgy look, but i like it.
you might want to do the black first and then wait a few days for highlights. you may find that the black is so dramatic that you don't WANT highlights after that, or if you don't like it, you could get brown highlights instead so it would be more like your original self.

I want to dye hair, that has been highlighted with a peroxide based product, darker.What are the effects?
For about a year now, I've being applying a half head of highlights, using a highlight cap, and Garnier summer hair (a spray that is 23% peroxide, and lightens hair using heat from hairdryers and the sun)
I want to return my hair to it's original colour (about a 6, dirty blond/light brunette)
If I dye it myself, what are the chances that the colour wont ';catch'; or will fade very quickly.
I know I can go to a hairstylist, but I'm hoping to do this myself.

Would a full head of highlights make brown hair look blonde?

A DIY application, and it looked fine on the day.
The red stuff washed out nicely, but left with golden streaks that needed dying out with black stuff.

And no one looks good with orange hair. Its really hard to lighten black hair, it generally takes mroe than once visit to the salon to get it done.
And like the others said, defiantely go to a good salon, not pro cuts.
I dont think they will be blonde.. they'll be more orange and/or brassy. I used to get my hair highlighted and dyed... but now that my hair has gotten so dark, it doesnt turn blonde anymore... at least not without several tries, and a lot of drying out of my hair! Dark hair looks great... they can probably put some sunkissed looking highlights in your hair, without it being blonde.
Maybe u should get more than one color not just the blonde!?!?

But I really suggest you go back as soon as you can and ask them to change it. Just call them say nicely ';I was just wondering if you could change the color to look more natural... I wasn't expecting it this color...thankyou so much...';

It's not ugly I think this look is very cute. Sorry I don't have any pictures but when I went to high school there were two girls with bright orange hair and they had platinum highlights put it. If you go to a nice salon that knows what they are doing is highlighting your hair all that bad??
Be sure the colorist actually knows what he/she is doing. Ask them about the training that they have received regarding color and highlights, continuing education classes etc.
Also, some manufactures offer certification with their particular line of color that the stylist may use so ask them if they are a certified colorist with the line of color they will be using If the stylist objects to any of those questions then there's no way I'd let them touch my head!!!Just cause the salon may have a good reputation, that doesn't mean the stylist is a know-it-all about color. After that I bought a highlighting box at Walmart and had my aunt do it and the highlights are still in my hair and I got it done in January!! It will most likely become more reddish toned but if you use chemicals like highlights you will HAVE to use body art quality henna powder as that will be safest and not damage your hair.
But using henna powder for hair dye is a permanent dye and will only go away when it grows out, so keep that in mind as your natural hair color grows in. The henna will cover your natural hair color and may look different from your dyed hair. I hope this helps! Fee free to message me

I have extremely pale skin, like the kind redheads have (but without freckles). I also have black hair naturally. On my good days, I have a Snow White kind of look, and on my bad days I look like a vampire... really. People are always asking me if I'm sick or tired because of my coloring. I too have extremely pale skin and naturally almost jet black hair. I'm always asked if im sick too! lol I started with a few highlights when i was 15...and now have lightened my hair a few shades to a dark brown with auburn highlights. the problem with my natural color is it has no shine and no depth. so if you want to stay with your color, go to a salon and get a color rinse that will add shine...they should know what you're talking about. that will make your hair stand out a bit more if you'd like. i use light makeup too, when i go too dramatic i end up looking too gothic lol. try light pink blushes, brown or pale black eyeliner/mascara, pink hued lipglosses, and a variety of colors, pastels are usually good options, in shades of purple, pink and green, and light beiges/tan/coppers can look nice too. good luck, im sure through the years you'll find what you like through experimentation. I'm still experimenting! lol

Wear a natural looking blush. Blush can do amazing things to light up your face if you are trying to avoid looking vampy.
now this might just be my fetish for vampires but I have been dying my hair in the winter (when I'm the palest) to black. Its a gorgeous look (if i say so myself) but I also have very soft features and am careful not to overdo it with the make up. just make sure that your make up is soft and it should work out just fine.
although if you were going to lighten it go to a very dark brown kinda like rose mcgowan on the last season of charmed. she looked great with that look. again soft features are the best with pale skin
If you want to dye your hair and think you can pull it off, why not? I would do more than a couple of shades if I were you or get some major highlights in the newly dyed hair maybe a shade lighter than the color you choose. Good luck!

She went dark burgandy ... and straightens it everyday...OMG...she looked GREAT...it should have been kind of goth, but it just suited her really well....with your hair already being black, that might work with yours too.. It would be worth going to a stylist and maybe starting with a temporary color till you find what you like...LUCKS!!

If you did buy a kit already and cannot return it do a strand test on a small section of your hair to see how it turns out before doing the entire head.

As they grow out-they don't leave the obviously ugly roots that normal highlights leave because they are partially hidden by your brown hair. you should go with an auburn red. i am also hispanic and i have dark brown hair and brown eyes, and i had auburn red highlights in my hair and it goes really well with a tan complexion.

I have dark brown hair and my friend has been tryiing to talk me into getting cinnamon (reddish/brown) highlights forever. I may give in for the holidays. :)
I recommend caramel. It's a nice light brown that mixes well with dark brown and you can see the highlights. Blond highlights can look really streaky (and not in a good way). Red is also good if you are going for a more subtle look. Typically red will blend with the brown so you may not necessarily see the highlights unless you are in the sun.

you should go with an auburn red. i am also hispanic and i have dark brown hair and brown eyes, and i had auburn red highlights in my hair and it goes really well with a tan complexion.

I'm a guy and I have medium jet black hair, it kinda look like zac efron hairstyle only all black. Go to a good 'alternative' salon ... and I think that the blonde and red would look GREAT with your hair color ... but to get it to look right, you really need to have it done and kept up by a professional hairdresser. If you do it yourself and 'mess up' you will look terrible until you can try again. Pros don't 'mess up' but if there is a problem they have several alternatives to 'fix' it so you look as good as you can when you leave the salon. I know this because both my husband and I go to an 'alternative' salon, and we BOTH look much better for it.
well I'm a girl. i get my hair highlighted all the time only my sister does it for me but shes a hair stylist so i would recommend you go to a salon just so you wouldn't worry about messing you hair up. i have dark brown hair and i use blond highlights i would recommend you use like a medium brown, but i don't know what your hair looks like so the shade of brown might vary a Lil bit also red may look good if its not to much of a bright red but like dull to off set the brown. and when you get your hair done i would recommend thin strikes of brown and what ever else your gonna put in it
if you have jet black hair, try medium/light brown highlights because i think blonde will be too much of a contrast with your normal hair colour. a guy friend of mine has really black hair and he got kinda mahogany/maroon highlights and they looked really good against his hair colour! so they were still kinda red just not as bright and it looked 10x better. i think if you want really good results go to a hair salon because there is so many things that can go wrong doing it yourself, especially if you dont know what you are doing
go to the hair silon and get a really light shade of brown tha twould look hot. but if ur not sure all hair places have this boiok for highlights it realy works.

if you got them done professionally, go back, let them fix your hair. I personally see a lot of girls with highlights and they all look fake and same. Leave your hair darker - it will bring your best features out in your face :)
