Why do i get brown highlights instead of blonde with black hair?

im 18 and a guy and ive gotten highlights 4times and 2 to of the times turned out brown..im dissapointed when they come out brown when i wanted blonde... plus everyone says my hair is very dark even with black hairWhy do i get brown highlights instead of blonde with black hair?
When you go see your stylist tell them that you want highlights by bleaching. I have very dark hair and its the only way to get light highlights.Why do i get brown highlights instead of blonde with black hair?

to get blonde highlights, you'll need to bleach the parts you want..that's the only way to be able to die the hair with the exact hair color you want
Sounds like your hair stylist sucks. I don't care how dark your hair is they can always put blonde streaks in it. Either he's lying to you or the mixture of hair dye (or whatever they call the high lighting stuff) is the wrong color, if it is then he's doing that on purpose. Or it could be that he's not leaving it in your hair long enough.
You have to ask for very light blonde highlights if that's what you want, assuming you went to a salon. It's important to get them done by a proffessional if you want to go a whole lot lighter than your natural color, home kits are created to make only a small color change, otherwise you would probably end up turning your hair a very ugly and unnatural shade of light orange. If you asked for highlights at a salon, the stylist probably erred on the side of caution and gave you caramel highlights. If your really wondering why their so brown, obviously it's because your hair is black, so it's more difficult to lighten.
Who has done the highlights? you or a stylist? if you have done them yourself and didnt like them then maybe you should move on to a pro.
You should'nt get blond highlights with black hair.. It looks weird. And you should go to a professional and have them blech it. Bleching takes out color, and when you use one of those boxes you add color, and just coat what you normally have with a different color. So if you want it blond. Bleach it.
try bleaching the parts of your hair that you want to highlight


before highlighting it. It'll make the colors brighter
