In my head I think black lowlights would good in my hair and I have tested it with temporary dye and it looks pretty good.I really want to change the color of my hair. I thought of the black lowlights or making all my hair black with auburn/gold highlights.Which would look better? My hair is a lighter shade of brown. Would black low lights look good or all black with gold highlights?
lowlights absolutely!!My hair is a lighter shade of brown. Would black low lights look good or all black with gold highlights?
All I have to say about black is is is the worst hair color to get out of any ones hair. The damage is unbelievable once dyed black and not liking the results, and having to remove it. Just make sure this is what you want. The last time I had to remove black from someones head it took 5 hours.....and they paid me a lot of money to do this, safely.
You also have to remember that there is upkeep with these colors, every month.
Do your self a favor and try on wigs to give yourself an idea of what YOU really like.
well me personally would not go for eather i would be proud and not change a thing. But since you want to than i wouldn't do eather i would do blond lowlights
brown with black lowlights is good. if u tested it and liked it...then do it. i think all black with gold highlights is tooooo much.
You're better off with black lowlights, because if you get amber/gold with BLACK, it'll look HORRIBLE. Plus, it'll be a hassle because it'll look even worse when it starts to grow out
black hair with auburn/gold highlights would look really cool, i think. it's an edgy look, but i like it.
you might want to do the black first and then wait a few days for highlights. you may find that the black is so dramatic that you don't WANT highlights after that, or if you don't like it, you could get brown highlights instead so it would be more like your original self.
good luck

I want to dye hair, that has been highlighted with a peroxide based product, darker. What are the effects?
For about a year now, I've being applying a half head of highlights, using a highlight cap, and Garnier summer hair (a spray that is 23% peroxide, and lightens hair using heat from hairdryers and the sun)
I want to return my hair to it's original colour (about a 6, dirty blond/light brunette)
If I dye it myself, what are the chances that the colour wont ';catch'; or will fade very quickly.
I know I can go to a hairstylist, but I'm hoping to do this myself.
Please let me know if you have experiance in this fieldI want to dye hair, that has been highlighted with a peroxide based product, darker. What are the effects?
I have had to do this before, I purchased a colour darker than my normal colour.
The lightened areas looked darker, but in time they faded.
All in all , it looked natural %26amp; no one knew the difference.I want to dye hair, that has been highlighted with a peroxide based product, darker. What are the effects?
Odd things can happen when you dye over top of bleach-
I had a pal who tried to put dark brown dye over her
bleached-white hair and got green instead.
So just be aware that these things can happen,
if the products you use don't work out you'll end up needing
to pay the salon anyway for them to fix it, unless you like green.
I am a hairstylist and I answered the last time.
I have been a stylist for 14 years.
First off-DEFINITELY do a strand test in the back of your hair with ANY color you choose. The spray that you have used has left a metallic salt on your hair that will react badly with most color lines/types. We are talking smoke and melting hair here.
Semi-permanent may be your only way to go at this point.
Second, if you do find a color type that you can use with out burning your hair-you will probably need to choose a color that is much more gold that your natural color. If you choose an ash based/cool tone color, you hair may absorb the ash tone and leave you green, Grey, or purple.

Can I dye my hair using semi-permanent over permanent highlights?
I highlighted my hair about 2 months ago. It is red and blonde on the top. I am wanting a change... but I was wondering if I could use a semi-permanent color. I don't know if it will cover the highlights I have now.. or if it will damage my hair.
I haven't colored my hair that much... and as you can probably tell.. I'm clueless... haha
Thank in advance for your help! Can I dye my hair using semi-permanent over permanent highlights?
First off don't try to cover it yourself. There is no way to know how it will actually turn out. I am a hairstylist and have been for over 8 years. Trust me when I say it will be way more expensive when you have to get it fixed after you put box color on it then if you just go into the salon and have it done. We know what is best for your hair and what will prevent damage. Box color is almost always metallic color which in part means there is some sort of metal in it. It will dry your hair out, professional color is more gentle on your hair. And like I said you don't know what color you will come up with in the end. Hope this helps! Can I dye my hair using semi-permanent over permanent highlights?
i don't know just ask people who dye there hairmyspace.com quizzes

Hair Highlighting problems please help?
Ok i got my hair highlighted a week after I went on vacation. (the color I got was blue hehehe) Anyways what i got was semi-permanent and its started to fade already its been about a month. My questions are is there a way to not fade my color other than not shampooing? And if not where can i buy something that helps my color stay other than going and getting it done for $40 again?Hair Highlighting problems please help?
Hot Topic has good hair dyes- some of them are permanent and some not (be careful when buying). They cost about 13 dollars per bottle. Also, try a color protect shampoo and cond.Hair Highlighting problems please help?

Would a full head of highlights make brown hair look blonde?
i want to go blonde but have been told that i shouldnt really dye all my hair blonde as it can damage it. im a medium to dark brown colour but i want to go a dark blonde and was wondering if a full head of highlights would look just as good as a full colour or not.Would a full head of highlights make brown hair look blonde?
More like a traffic light ...Would a full head of highlights make brown hair look blonde?
The more highlights ylou have put in the more blonde you will look and therefore the more damaged your hair will be. You should try using semi permanent hair dye then it will go the colour but will not ruin your hair as it tends not to have bleach in. using semi-permanent you could also do the whole head if is the damage you are worried about. Hope that makes sense .... good luck XD Ps . you will also need to use blonde shampoo you know the dye one cause then it will make it as soft as your normal hair and protect from sun etc .
highlights is dye (or bleach) its just not on every hair. it will damage the hair that is processed. if you have more hair highlighted than is not, the blonder it will look.
just get loads of lighter highlights through your hair. it will make it look a lot lighter. blonde hair is a lot more dry btw, i got mine out straight after i had it done %26amp; it runined my hair anyway.

Can i put in blonde highlights on black hair?
i have natural black hair..if i go in the salon can i get blonde highlights put in all in one day?Can i put in blonde highlights on black hair?
they will have to process it a lot, but it can be done. the stylist may or may not depending on the condition of your hair. if its damaged, she may think the chemicals will cause more breakage. go to a GOOD salon- not super cuts pr anything like that. It'll cost more, but is sooo worth it!Hope it looks good! Can i put in blonde highlights on black hair?
I am about to do it Report Abuse
Hi,
Its possible to put blonde into virgin black hair, but it will take a while to lift the colour out and u may not get a really white blonde.
Rx
if you put in some chocolate brown as well so i t doesn't look strange
Yes but you will have to use bleach for the colour to take
yes u can cause i did it
Yeh ! that looks great - My Wife had her hair like that a few years ago.. Get it done by someone who knows what they are doing though..
Why not?
Well it would be better than putting them in blonde hair, that would be pointless
Yes you can get it done.
They will have to strip your hair though, which only means lighten your hair.
Yes my hairdresser has black hair with streaks in.
Don't see why not. Go to an experienced colourist.
yes you can. but i suggest getting red highlights instead. it looks great on black hair. especially if you're asian. not like gross rocker red. more like maroon red. good luck!
Perhaps a different color like auburn, but diffenately not blonde. If you want to be funky then blue highlights would be neat. I saw it done on a show called ';Ten years younger'; on the learning channel, and her hair turned out really cool.
Blonde highlights on black hair would perhaps look lovely but before you do ask the hairdresser her opinion.
Yes, u are smart to go to the salon. It will take a couple of hours but hopely worth it.
ya sure you can! u go to hairdressers and tell them the colour you want they will then show u a shade chart and see which colour blonde you like and tell them.... but they will use bleach on it first!!unles you go for a high lift blonde which is 12/0 on shade chart
gud luck
Hi %26gt;
Oh yes, but be careful.
I have very dark brown hair, almost black, and died it dark red, with blonde streaks to do face painting at the local fair.
A DIY application, and it looked fine on the day.
The red stuff washed out nicely, but left with golden streaks that needed dying out with black stuff.
What a palaver.
All the best,
Bob
Yes you can but you'll need it bleaching. You could try a naturaliser if you dont' want it to be too striking.
It sounds strange
I would seriously doubt it could be done in one day. I would be leary if someone tells you it can be done that quick. %26lt;Most likely your hair will turn orange not blonde. And no one looks good with orange hair. Its really hard to lighten black hair, it generally takes mroe than once visit to the salon to get it done.
And like the others said, defiantely go to a good salon, not pro cuts.
I dont think they will be blonde.. they'll be more orange and/or brassy. I used to get my hair highlighted and dyed... but now that my hair has gotten so dark, it doesnt turn blonde anymore... at least not without several tries, and a lot of drying out of my hair! Dark hair looks great... they can probably put some sunkissed looking highlights in your hair, without it being blonde.
Maybe u should get more than one color not just the blonde!?!?
Yes - but I would recommend that you lighten your base first. Maybe have your colorist dye your hair light brown first %26amp; then apply the highlights.
Your colorist will know best - talk to them.
hey, no it will go ginger trust me i am a hairdresser! u dont want your hair to turn out dreadful so what i suggest is to, have caramel and light brown first, and then go back after that and have blonde highlights in then. it will look great because your hair will then be multi-tonal and a natural looking blonde.
yes but i would reccomend getting other colors too so that it's not like ';BAM!'; blonde highlights, ya know? %26amp; not all stripey, just my opinion. . .
black with blonde? maybe you should rethink that.
no you'll have to go back a few times and it turns out a real yellow blonde
Nooo, don't do it. Blonde highlights on black hair don't look good at all. Lighten your hair to brown first, or do as someone else suggested and get red highlights.
